An American pitbull terrier and a Chinese crested are crossed to create a hybrid dog known as a Chinese pitbull. Rarely will each breed be represented equally in the offspring of the two breeds.

Any dog with ancestry from either of the two breeds can be referred to as a Chinese pitbull. Breeders may not always have the option to combine two purebred dogs, and the exact lineage mix of a given puppy affects the dog’s appearance to some extent. Up until the puppy is born and reaches adulthood, it is unknown which precise characteristics from each parent’s breed the puppy will acquire.
