The famous Coheed and Cambria dragonflies are genetically altered weapons that employ stingers to deliver the toxin Ciache. The band’s music and the ensuing run of graphic novels and comic books brought the science fiction plot featuring the dragonflies to life.
Claudio Sanchez, the lead singer of the band and author of “The Amory Wars,” had never considered employing dragonflies as weapons until he saw the cover art for the band’s debut album, “The Second Stage Turbine Blade,” which featured a meticulously drawn dragonfly. Sanchez was able to easily incorporate the inspiration because he was still working on the music and story’s premise. The majority of Coheed and Cambria’s albums from 2002 to 2013 were based on “The Amory Wars.”
