Depending on the length and diameter of the carrots, a bunch with tops contains about four to six carrots. A 1-pound bag of topped carrots contains roughly six to eight of them and is sold by weight. 12 to 16 topped carrots are contained in a 2-pound bag.
Three cups of chopped and two and a half cups of grated carrots can be made from a bunch of six to eight medium-sized carrots.
When the tops are cut off and the carrots are placed in a plastic bag, they can be kept fresh for up to two weeks in the refrigerator. Carrots cultivated for commercial purposes are categorised according to size, including length, diameter, colour, and quality, and must pass inspection by the U.S. Department of Agriculture before being allowed for sale.
